PSA - Watamote

Well, there's only so much you can say about a SoL series after each episode before you start to repeat yourself. While there's nothing bad about Watamote, it does feel like doing an episode by episode review of it is getting pointless, and I'm struggling to find things to say about each episode. So with that, I will unfortunately be discontinuing reviews of the series. I just don't want to put out content that I don't think is written to the best of my ability. Thank you for your understanding.

Monogatari SS - 5 - End of Nekomonogatari Shiro

OH. MY. GOD. This was probably the best of anything else I've seen this season. I should say, before reading any further make sure you go watch this episode, because its worth seeing spoiler-free. With this episode we have the amazing conclusion to Nekomonogatari Shiro, and the return of our main character Koyomi Araragi. As well as that, we have the final main developments of Hanekawa's character and the truth behind Kako.

Monogatari SS - 4

"What? You're not watching monogatari? What's wrong with you?"
Probably the best episode of this season so far. Things will most definitely be hitting their climax with this arc in the next episode, and a lot of things will be explained. We're getting a lot of cool contrasts in this episode, again to do with Hanekawa's point of view. As well as that, a couple really interesting characters have been introduced as well, but it seems like neither of them are new chronologically. I decided to check back in the flashback from episode one of Bakemonogatari, and found this shot,

Free! - 4

This took me a long time to get around to, mainly because it doesn't feel like a whole lot happened this week out of the ordinary, so as a result there's not much to talk about with this episode. As expected, Rei does learn to swim, theres some goofy scenes, some manservice and some homosexual undertones. Really there was only one interesting thing that happened to further the plot.

Watamote - 3

Apologies for the delay, summer holidays just started, so it took me a while to get around to this. Watamote hasn't disappointed so far, therefore it's officially passed my 3 episode rule, meaning that I'd suggest this as a definite watch for this season. This weeks episode didn't have a whole lot to it, but it is the first time we see Tomoko's interaction with complete strangers, as well as a bit more into her relationship with her brother. Despite the fact that we don't see much happening, this episode managed to stay entertaining and humorous, which is the point of a show like this, so I'm happy.

Monogatari SS - 3

So, between the last episode and this one I decided to rewatch some of Bakemonogatari. I strongly recommend you do this too if its been a while since you last saw it. There's a lot to notice with the point of view change in this series and how different it is. Theres a fair amount in this episode, and some of my suspicions from last week have all but been confirmed. Excitement!

Free! - 3

Oh boy, I get the feeling I'm going to enjoy the series less and less from this episode on. We finally have the last main character introduction, Rei Ryuugazaki aka tsundere-glasses-smartypants. There's a fair amount to talk about with this episode, and some issues that are popping up that I hoped I wouldn't have to talk about, but it's becoming an increasing problem. So, lets get right to it.

Watamote - 2

You said it.
Honestly, it would not bother me in the slightest if anyone has trouble watching this anime. It's almost painful to see how socially inept Tomoko is. That being said, it's also managing to stay pretty funny and relatable (for me at least) so I wouldn't say this is a horrible thing. With the latest episode, we see new aspects of Tomoko's life that she massively fails in. I'm starting to wonder if she'll ever catch a break.

Monogatari SS - 2

OH BOY! The best time of the week is already here, and damn is it good. Nekomonogatari Shiro is starting to heat up, as with this episode we see more of the strange tiger apparition from last time. Its intentions so far seem unclear, but it definitely has something to do with the fact that Hanekawa saw it last episode. Oh, and speaking of Hanekawa, that strange chapter-skipping going on? Well, if you haven't guessed already, there's a good reason for that, which is...

Free! - 2

First of all, I have to apologize about how late this is. A couple real life things came up, and then I got addicted to Dark Souls (currently at 28 hours, SL52 and up against Ornstein and Smough). Anyway, This week's episode of Free!  was not a disappointment, and it gives me high hopes for the series. If they can keep up the pacing then it definitely will be one of the better things this season.

Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui! - 1

So, the last anime to air that I'll be watching is here, and it's none other than the anime adaptation of 4chan's favourite manga, Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui! (No Matter How I Look at It, It’s You Guys' Fault I'm Not Popular!) or WataMote for short. As a matter of fact, the manga was so popular on 4chan that it even marketed itself in japan as "the manga that's popular on the western version of 2chan" (2chan being the site that inspired 4chan). Anyway, lets put the pointless trivia aside for now, and onward with the review!

Blood Lad - 1 (First Impressions)

So, this isn't quite what I expected, but it's not as bad as I thought it would be. Just a side note, what is with this season and great OPs? It feels like every show I've watched so far has a really good OP. So, Twilight Blood Lad, the story of a teenage vampire who falls in love with a human girl after she accidentally stumbles into his world. Now dont pack up your things and leave quite yet, it's not that bad, honestly.

Monogatari Second Season - 1

Get hype because it's here. Monogatari SS (or Nekomonogatari Shiro) has finally dropped and my god is it glorious. I probably don't need to mention that the monogatari series is close to being my favourite anime of all time, so I apologize in advance that this will be less of a review of the series, and more of a fanboying out over the series. Anyway, let's continue shall we?

Servant x Service - 1 (First Impressions)

Servant x Service is the one thing that looks the most "meh" this season, but as with Free! I was pleasantly surprised by the first episode. Granted there wasn't anything exceptional about it, but there was nothing bad about it at all. At first glance it seems like your typical slice of life/comedy anime, and so far it pretty much is. The thing that stood out the most, however, was the fact that its not set in high school.

Kitakubu Katsudou Kiroku - 1 (First Impressions)

Nice Pose
So, I'm not usually a fan of the SoL genre, but there are some exceptions to that rule. This will not be one of them. Kitakubu Katsudou Kiroku (or KKK for short, nice choice of name guys) follows the main character, who I will call StupidHair seeing as she's so bland that I could not for the life of me remember her name, and her friends, the soft-spoken moe one, the rich classy one, the cool one, and the eccentric club leader (aka Sailor Moon) and their everyday antics in the pointless "Going Home Club." Hmm, this all seems oddly familiar. I think it's meant to be a comedy as well, but I honestly couldn't tell.

Free! - 1

KyoAni's done it again. So, Free! where do I begin? Honestly, it... actually wasn’t that bad? When I saw the trailer for this, I immediately thought “KyoAni have just shot themselves in the head with this one,” but after watching the first episode, it may not turn out that way.
