Naruto - 642

'Breakthrough'

First of all, I have to admit, Naruto's gone from garbage to gold... and in the space of one week. This chapter displayed true quality, and the deep, meaningful dialogue between Obito and Minato wasn't overdone to the point where it got lame. Actually, I felt the emotions coursing through, and I was thoroughly moved by Minato's various regrets. If I were to list all the events that occurred in this chapter, everything has gone right. Finally, there is a way to finish of Obito, once and for all. Who knows, maybe he'll be turned into a Frog Statue along the way, if Naruto plays his cards right. Still, what a turnaround.

This moment was when I christened Obito 'The Invincible'
Obito the Indestructible crawls out of his dark magic barrier, unperturbed, and unscathed by the devastating combo Naruto and Sasuke managed to land on him in the previous chapter. My disappointment continued to grow, as the revelation that Minato's arm wasn't going to grow back anytime soon seemed to make Obito the Indestructible into Obito the Invincible. In all honesty, how overpowered is it being able to do permanent damage to Edo-Tensei-fied ninjas? Not very overpowered in the least, because this guy can summon down hell nukes, and finish off the Narutouniverse as we know it, so long as he desires to. I guess I should just be glad he didn't do that right from the start.

Two occasions in this chapter I thought Kishimoto
forgot how to draw Sasuke
Upon the realization that the Edo Tensei is mortal in front of Obito, our characters plunge into despair. Gamakichi, the steadfast Toad ally, decides to exit the scene, leaving behind a small (and very important) parting gift. In a state of despair, Minato throws out the ultimate question: 'Obito, wasn't it your dream to become Hokage?! What led you to this?!'. Sadly, as we know omnisciently , it was a combination of factors (Kakashi killing Rin being the primary one). We see the reason for Obito's hatred for Minato, from the latter's perspective. To be fair, Minato does seem to always arrive too late to rescue people, be it Obito, Rin, or even his family. Here, we understand the desperation that filled Obito, as he could only helplessly watch afar as Kakashi killed Rin, wondering where his hero was all this time. After that, there was no way he could ever believe in heroes ever again. Minato was dead to Obito.

Yes... your right arm is gone...
Minato, being the person who can really empathize with people, starts to see the situation from Obito's perspective. He starts to realize a large proportion of events turned out the way they did due to the mistakes he made. Being very selfless, he never ponders a world in which he is still alive in, merely a world where Naruto and Kushina are still alive. Harsher than any critic I've ever come across, Obito continues to slam Minato with his own hatred, saying he's shamed himself in front of Naruto (and effectively saying the title of Hokage is trash).

When you get angry, or frustrated, spit at people. It always works
Fortunately, Naruto realized the meaning of Gamakichi's parting gift (something the Second Hokage seemed to be very impressed about). In a fit of rage brought about by hearing his old man being badmouthed, he proceeds to slam a Rasengan into the back of the perpetrator, with some help from the Second Hokage. Following these impressive spiral of events, a dark being stirs within Minato, that is to say the Yang (Dark) chakra of the Kyuubi which Minato sealed inside of himself. With this drastic reversal in the storyline, Naruto could potentially complete the Kyuubi within himself, and face off Sage-Kyuubi Mode against Obito. Essentially, most of the components that will allow Naruto to powerup have been introduced in this single chapter, meaning there isn't much to speculate other than how Naruto will defeat Obito (since Obito is still... Obito the Invincible). Only the coming chapters can possibly tell, and that will be all this week.

Well said Naruto, and I totally agree with you!
