I'm back to ram this into the ground again. And spoilers - its still as awful as ever. You know when a moment so awful appears before your eyes that you start crying (if you think I'm exaggerating, that literally happened). Not only that, but the main anime I'm watching now is the new Attack on Titan series (mainstream, I know), and coming from the breath-taking artwork and animation (and budget consumption) to this... Its quite underwhelming, to say the least. Don't forget that Uchouten Kazoku is the only new anime (or one of the only, I'm not sure) on Crunchyroll that doesn't have 1080p streams for it. Fantastic.

Listen - we were just too lazy to give the ears any detail. And our silly protagonist is still at it with the feminine costumes.
|
We are still oblivious of Benten's identity. Why does she eat tanuki if shes friends with them? Its not an compelling mystery - its just nonsensical. I'm not generally interested in the character, I just want to know whats going on. Oh wait - we still don't know who that ugly old Tengu professor is either! We are also introduced to some new characters, including the protagonist's mother, who everyone refers to as a man, even though she's their mother. There's barely any character development here apart from finding out she walks around like a fashion-addicted twat, she's good at pool and she is scared of lightning. I'm compelled already.

Is it a man? Is it a woman? Is it a frog - oh wait... |
We also encounter more lazy artwork! In the form of two identical characters - but don't worry, they change the trouser colour, and we aren't told anything about them anyway. Then there's one of the protagonist's younger brothers... Who's a frog. He talks about how he wanted to become a frog, but its stupid and I have no reason to care about this character anyway. It feels like hes shoehorned in for no reason, at the moment anyway. But don't worry folks, the main character still dresses as a woman! Oh wait, that's not a good thing. The joke was poor in the first place and was exhausted within the split second we encountered it, but they just decided to carry it on.

Now this my friends, is the complete opposite of laziness and the pinnacle of character variety. |
Again, I won't go into the plot - nothing happens. Our protagonist meets his mum, he goes to talk to the frog, they get stopped by two giant toy cats, and then find their mum in Tanuki form under the bridge. However, there is something amazing in the introduction to this episode. Its a shame we've already seen it before though - since they've literally copied and pasted the same scene and all its dialogue from the first episode. At least change some of the scenery if you reuse dialogue, but no, they were too lazy to even do that. So anyway, that's the second episode of Uchouten Kazoku for you. There is a tiny glimmer of promise, but its so tiny that its invisible to the naked eye, so you probably won't notice it anyway. Please - just watch something else. Its still pretty bad.
