Servant x Service - 1 (First Impressions)

Servant x Service is the one thing that looks the most "meh" this season, but as with Free! I was pleasantly surprised by the first episode. Granted there wasn't anything exceptional about it, but there was nothing bad about it at all. At first glance it seems like your typical slice of life/comedy anime, and so far it pretty much is. The thing that stood out the most, however, was the fact that its not set in high school.

The series follows "Lucy" (abbreviated) Yamagami and her co workers, Saya Miyoshi and Yutaka Hasebe, in their first job in civil service at a fairly boring and bog standard office. Lucy has chosen this line of work in order to get revenge on the people that did this job poorly, and ended up ruining her first name when she was born. Apart from that, there's not much else to talk about, because not much happens. We're given our characters and then they're thrown into situations they have to deal with. It's all pretty well-paced, with enough comedy to keep you entertained without having to force its humour. The only problem I have with this so far is that, apart from the setting, it doesn't really do much that isn't standard in SoL comedies. I think it'll make for some lighthearted entertainment every week, but I don't see it being extremely memorable. I'd recommend it if you're into the SoL genre, since it manages to pull that off pretty well, but if you're not, I don't think this show will be an exception.
