Kiniro Mosaic - 2

'HNNNG!'
First off, this is ridiculous. The Japanese aren't renown for being very tall, while the English generally are. So having many jokes centered around Alice being shorter than every other Japanese girl on the series seemed like a fantasy to me. To be blunt, these kind of events can only take place in ficiton. I don't know what the Japanese producers are trying to get at here, Japanese height dominance? Like I said, there's a Kim Jong Il disillusion going on here, but in this case, Alice would be a hyper midget among the typical, purebred English populace. Alice's parents are quite tall, so maybe she'll receive a random growth spurt and surpass her smug companions. Even anime can't deny the inherent potential of genetics, or maybe it can...
after all, this guy somehow became the dictator of North Korea
Moe moe moe, but no fanservice. What a treat!!! No anime could possibly compete in terms of fanservice with Highschool DxD in the line up, but Kiniro Mosaic is hands down my moe show of the year so far, and far from being boringly dreary, I've been highly anticipating Saturday evenings recently. Shinobu, Alice, Aya and Yoko are easily my favourite group of characters in this entire season. Each individual is full of their own charm, and they work off each other to establish well delivered comedy. They also have their own insecurities involving their place within their clique, which is incredibly realistic, considering humans are a species thriving on misconceptions and self-deprecation. I was quite touched that they managed to pick up on Alice's insecurities (something I've failed before), and a twist was added in that they got the wrong end of the stick, which was really cute!

This cannot be a 15 year old...
Comedy happened... like that moment I died laughing yet again when Alice became the figure stone for a good example of spoken English. Sure, I should cut the criticism based on the fact Japanese voice actors are behind even the English characters, but nevertheless, I found it incredibly amusing. Slightly disappointed how this was rushed, and the following scene was after Alice's moment in the spotlight, but having a non-native speaker pose as a native speaker is really outside the comfort zone of any person. Shinobu being a foreigner wannabe cracked me a couple of times in this episode, but she took it to new extremes by saying she'd dye her hair blonde. Had to Google that one. First result was Japanese Nikki Minaj.
'Arice, your Engrish sound a rittle awkward'
...and comedy continues to strike gold again and again. 4koma usually follows this style when animated, but I feel this is somewhat reminiscent of Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou. With wonderful pacing, and a gentle atmosphere, this anime makes me feel relaxed, and right at home. Expressions cover an incredible range for such a simple anime, depicted beautifully, giving the show a whole new aspect through which to please viewers. Not only that, Kiniro Mosaic fully exploits this to push the moe and comedy up to a maximum. Big production company often emphasize the obvious, and tend to give less towards subtle methods of making their anime better.

Alice is flatout rejected
If you don't like this show, this is all I have for you:

My reaction also to the Japanese Nikki Minaj
