Bleach - 548

A Song of Fire and Ice

To summarize, this chapter was basically Toshiro and Rangiku giving Bazz-B a pulping, though I doubt 'H' the Heat is actually down for the count. Firstly, Bazz-B hasn't even used any trademark Quincy abilities, and if he was struck down with Blut activated, that's something I highly doubt considering he survived a full-on incineration from Yamamoto relatively unscathed. But even then, he has yet to unveil his Vollstandig, the pinnacle of Quincy Powers granting them abilities akin to a Captain with Bankai. Though Kubo seemed to have ended the fight instantly, we can be sure this is just trolling and teasing on his behalf.

I have half a mind to criticize Bleach for never attempting creative mixtures of Zanpakuto abilities as seen in this chapter, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, considering this is an excellent element I'd want to see more of. I'm also glad to see Bleach can do more than repeat story arcs, and be really cliche. The Science Kubo used is accurate, and well incorporated. For the five weeks he was gone, it would seem like he did a lot of researching.

Unfortunately, there's a horrible lack of things to say considering this chapter was mostly action oriented, and as we know, the action does the speaking for itself. Speculations I'd make are that Soi-Feng will soon join the field of battle alongside her lieutenant (her Shikai is pretty powerful in its own right, and doesn't suffer too much difference in killing power), and I can't seem to remember who else had their Bankai stolen. There's a strong link in that the people who had their bankai stolen are still extremely overpowered with their Shikai, not much of a difference, and a sly move there from Kubo.
