ROAD TO...get CubeWorld...
So today I'm going to be doing something different. Initially I
wanted to read the new naruto and Fairy Tail and review them as per
usual. Unfortunately, due to the retarded government of the country that
is the Islamic Republic of Iran, manga is filtered. Thus, I will have
to wait until roughly the 14th of August before I can review any
chapters. So, what have I been able to do without facebook, YouTube,
twitter, manga or porn? Well, I got addicted to a game called "Cube
World".
I wonder why it's called CUBE world... |
So, from the screenshot, I am 100 percent sure that many
people will consider this to be a rip off of Minecraft. Well, was
Minecraft even an original idea? Notch himself stated that he gained
inspiration from a VERY old game called "Infiniminer". I'd suggest
looking up Infiniminer before stating what seems to be obvious. Anyway, I
heard about Cube World from some people I was following on Twitter and
after thorough research I decided to buy the game as soon as it went
into alpha. I looked so forward to buying this game and I probably had
the same feeling as Kirito before he bought S.A.O.
So, the day that the game came out it seemed that life was setting me a challenge. The up times for the servers were the following:

These are a few of the expressions I had after seeing the uptimes... |
Ridiculous huh? And even when the servers were up, it was generally when I was asleep. So, I practically gave up, but still checked the servers every now and then.
The events that occured a week or two later demonstrate the power of owning the title "ShanHaxx". I vented my rage to my fellow reviewer ShanHaxx and at this point the uptimes were a little higher but still pretty damn low. He practically laughed at the fact that I had not created an account in two whole weeks. After explaining the game to him he decided to join me on my quest to become an alpha tester. And this happened to be the EXACT moment when the game developers fixed the uptimes. He managed to create an account and buy the game for the two of us in less that TWO DAYS. I still cannot fathom the power of his luck, and his generosity for buying the game for my birthday.
I was so relieved and downloaded the game instantly. However, life created more problems for now the two of us. The game had MANY animations and complex coding which made it only suitable for higher end PCs. However, it seemed that the main problem was the minimum render distance cap. For those who do not understand this, it means that you could only get your render distance down to 25% and this meant that you could still see very far into the world making the game have low fps for normal computers as well as lower end computers. Thus, for an entire 2.5 weeks I looked for a solution and couldn't find anything.
This may seem like the end of my journey, but if you are an Iranian terrorist like I, then you must understand that we NEVER GIVE UP. I made a better plan than Dom Cobb from Inception and looked through all of the Cube World files in order to detect the problem. After 2 hours of this, I reached the options file and saw all the options. For some reason, I highlighted the rendor distance number and changed it to 5%. As I re-opened the game I was pessimistic, thinking to myself "it's capped Sepand, you can't do anything about it!!". When the game opened up, I felt a feeling similar to what Christians would feel if Jesus returned. High fps. No lag. It was like a dream.
Anyway, it seems like this review has become a long story. So, I'm going to be doing a seperate review on the actual game and I'll also be doing a review on the "Wizard" class and expect everyone else to take my anti-lag technique and review their respective classes too.
But, until next time, peace out.
