Senyuu S2 - 1

The Hero Broods (at being a minor character)

I decided to take this up, mostly because I appreciate good comedy short animes. Senyuu never really appealed to me, but admittedly, it is random, quirky and completely fun. Well I guess it's return is a cause for celebration (*Yay!*), but due to the spontaneous nature of the show, I can't even remember the names of half the characters, or what they're even trying to do. Everything just happens so quickly that there is almost no time left to process ongoing events, leaving the viewer slightly confused at uncorrelated scenes smoothly flowing together, which just feels weird, if not wrong to say the least. I'd just like to make a point that I usually download anime. Unfortunately, not all anime is readily available in English Subs, and in spite of the great efforts from various fansubbers, sometimes the results are often somewhat disappointing. So, I marched onto an anime streaming site, and having not visited one for ages, was overcome by the extreme amount of adverts that pop-up while I watched this episode. Not cool, I don't want the sound of a woman cooking something when I'm in the middle of watching my all-important anime. Onto the main overview, which is about Senyuu:

The choice of magic was a pretty long stretch
We get reintroduced to our characters, and I have to say, Nise Panda is the most random animal side kick I've ever seen. For starters, he's not even a Panda!!! He's a creature which looks like a failed giraffe painted yellow! Oh wait, I was wrong, another even more random animal side kick turns up. It's a talking cat! As if I haven't seen one of those. What's more is, he tells them to stop calling Magic, erm, Magic... Well let's just say he doesn't want them to ruin Ja-Kun's dream of becoming a Ninja, since all his 'Ninjutsu' is actually magic...
In case you can't see, Alba's being crushed
Ja-Kun wants to be a ninja. A ninja, ok?
Look! You guys keep calling it magic, so now he's all sad!
Our resident lolicon reappears, eclipsing poor Alba, who's been completely sidelined this episode. From now on, I will also use the term 'L-aura' to refer to the loli aura a girl emits. Kudos to Rudolf for coining the phrase. Meanwhile, the focus returns to the characters stuck in the dimensional rift at the end of the episode, where our demon lord 'Rchimedes' makes his dark return.

While it's nice to know the series is back, though this kind of comedy has become a bit lost on me. Don't get me wrong, I'm a light-hearted person who appreciates a laugh here and there, but old jokes begin to run stale when overused. All in all, if you love comedy, this really is a must watch, mostly since the short episodes mean it's not time consuming. I'm considering reviewing this for the rest of the season, since it's rather small, and easy to review. However, this all depends whether I'm busy on Tuesdays or not, with something telling me I won't be that busy.
