Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi - 1

HNNNG!!!
‘A world where nobody dies.’ That sounded like a good premise if ever I heard one. Good, philosophical, existential questions all round. That’s what I expected. What I got instead was somewhat different. At this point, I’m still not sure quite what.
Ai is a young girl with the job of gravekeeper - since God abandoned the world, people do not stay dead unless buried by those with that title. One day, the village she lives in is slaughtered entirely by a mysterious man. A small misunderstanding and subsequent explanation reveal that not only was the her father's given identity incorect, but so too was her position of gravekeeper.

It’s not much of a summary, but that seems to cover the most important plot points. Short, isn’t it? The pacing of this anime is slow. I would have liked a bit more time for exposition on what exactly is going on, but I can appreciate a good beginning. Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi is setting up a world, one in which the viewer is every bit as confused as the protagonist. I look forward to understanding more in the future, as I continue to watch this anime.

I recommend this anime.
