Uzume Uno is a timid, ditzy, awkward schoolgirl. One day, on a crowded train, someone puts something in her bag. You know, I was actually impressed that a trope was almost subverted there.

She was neither molested nor robbed. What is the world coming to...?

It turns out it was some weird sort of phone-y thing. Uzume then proceeds to puzzle over this, with far too dull a reaction, in my opinion. That really sums up everything about this episode - ‘far too dull a reaction’. Voice talks to you? - comply with demands unquestioningly. Random girl appears in a flash of light? - comment on her lack of clothes. Fight breaks out? - go along with it. The only part that didn’t follow this trend was when she completely overreacted about somebody touching her shoulder. True, it turns out that was the correct course of action, but it was a bit too convenient.

Marvel at her mediocrity! |
Overall, the main problem was poor storytelling. The main character seems to be unable to question anything, no matter how weird, and the plot more or less drops into her lap, not unlike her powers. Sure, this is the magical girl genre, more or less, but I was hoping for something slightly more subversive or well-thought-out.
The ‘dolls’ who Uzume is given the ability to summon by entering a contract are very harem-esque, and were it not for the fully female cast, I’d be inclined to call wish-fulfilment. Hell, I dunno, she might be a lesbian.

Good lord, Sasara! What are you doing!? |
The thing that was most jarring for me was that Uzume knew instinctively how to summon the dolls, despite no instruction, or even lampshading. I have a feeling it has something to do with her past experience in a certain card game, but if it was that similar (not that it makes any sense that she’d know how to do it for real), I would have at least expected her to draw attention to that.

If this is a Yugioh rip-off, at least they won't look so stupid... |
All in all, uninspiring. Plot is bland, characters did not shine, and the writing is poor.
I would not recommend this anime.
