Sin and Sacrifice
Okay, first of all, I'm just going to put this out there. This review is going to be HUGELY biased against Juvia because it was her fault that Gray was...well you'll see.
So, LET'S GO!
Seeing as the chapter is called Sin and Sacrifice, I'll split up this review...

Must admit, this was my end of chapter reaction |
The "sinning" is mainly relating to Jellal's past, and how Miliana is mistaken about Jellal's actions. Relating to the fact that she looks like a cat (with a lot of cleavage, because this is Fairy Tail) she seems to react to seeing Jellal as a cat would to being stepped on it's tail. She wants to kill him because he kept them captive in a tower and he also killed Simon. I'll admit, her statement was pretty epic.
But, like the caption of the image says, it's beginning to seem pretty repetitive. So many people want/wanted to kill Jellal, but I'm beginning to grow bored of Jellal and his story as a whole. It's a pretty simple story, with not much relevance to the current things that are happening (y'know, it's not like there's a bunch of dragons about to take over the world). Since they've just randomly referred to it, I really hope it turns out to be relevant. But suddenly, a wild Ultear appears!
This bit kind of confused me, as in the previous chapters with references to Jellal and Erza's past I kind of skipped past the chapters because they were so damn boring. But I'll go ahead and admit it, this bit seemed pretty epic. Basically Ultear admits to being the one who controlled Jellal's actions and everything that he did was actually what she did. This includes killing Simon. However, Ultear says that she'll let "Kitty" (love that nickname) do anything she wants to her once the battle has ended. We then get to the "Sin" section of the chapter. Ultear collapses onto her knees after realising how she was just about to kill a human being (Rogue). She then says "A witch's sin? My sins can't be wiped off the slate that easily". It's at this point I realise...Ultear is a BADASS. Seriously, Fairy Tail has its fair share of powerful women (unlike other series *cough* Naruto *cough*), and we just got another one! Granted, like every other powerful female character in Fairy Tail, she "just so happens" to have large breasts, but she's a powerful, female, enemy within the series, and we really haven't seen something as epic as this before. I hope to see more cool stuff from Ultear in the future, and really wish she'll become a good villain with a legitimate motive.
Sacrifice
This really seems to be a popular opinion. |
"Are hers...bigger than mine?!!?!?!" |
Sacrifice
Like I said at the start, there are elements of both sin and sacrifice within this chapter. I'll now be talking about "sacrifice". I've always disliked Juvia, she's always been a shady character and has this strange crush on Gray that she always manages to link to him being in love with Lucy or vice versa. But I'll admit, I can't imagine Gray with anyone else and accepted Juvia as a character...until this chapter. First of all, I'd like to talk about how Hiro Mashima made Juvia look like an absolute idiot in this chapter. Did you know that humans actually learn things from past experiences? Evidently Juvia was not aware of this, as she falls for the same thing twice in a row. Basically, she was shot at by...lasers? I'm not sure, but she was shot at by something and Gray pushed her out of the way. Most people would become more alert in this situation. Juvia? Quite the opposite. She completely loses focus and thinks that Gray is about to confess his love for her, which he obviously isn't. Then...this happens:
Penetration taken to the next level. |
Many of you will see this, and say "Oh that won't kill him! It's just a flesh wound!". Look at the next page...
w-w-w-WHAT???!!!!!!! |
At this point, I can't see any possible way for Gray to survive. Unless this was Bleach, and having a hole in your chest makes you stronger, there is no possible way for him to not be dead! Or is there? I doubt that one of the main characters of the series will die such a pathetic death, and I'm very excited for the outcome of the next chapter. But here's my opinion on Juvia. Okay, I guess she's strong, and she also has large breasts (for obvious reasons), but those things must be larger than her brain because nobody can be that stupid. When you were saved from a possibility of death roughly 10 seconds earlier, surely you'd be more alert than you were before? Oh, and it gets worse. If Gray survives this, then he and Juvia will probably get together. Why? Because him jumping in front of her, giving up his life for her, shows that he truly loves her. I hate to say it, but the two of them going into a relationship seems pretty inevitable...
I recently came up with a way that Gray may be able to survive, and sorry for the late edit. People are coming back from the future! Maybe Future Juvia wasn't so stupid and Future Gray managed to survive. I suppose if Future Gray goes back to the past then him and Past-Juvia probably won't get together seeing as he wouldn't have sacrificed himself for her. But yeah, that's just my view on this.
That's it for this week's Fairy Tail. For the next chapter, I hope to see a valid reason for Gray's survival, and I really hope he's not actually dead. Most important part? WHY ISN'T GILDARTS
HERE YET?!?!?!?
Anyway, see you guys next week and PEACE OUT.
